What are your fitness goals for new year?

In today’s INSTANT world, it's easy to make goals, but when it comes down to taking on the actual work that must be engaged, the josh also dies down INSTANTLY. Seems familiar? With new year coming up, everyone is again in the same mode, there is a fresh chance to rewrite history in this new year, but chances are, that it will again just stay there written pretty in your diary.

But why do we fail? Lets see the most common reasons I see in my clients (and to be honest, I have struggled with them myself for as long as I can remember)

  1. Setting unrealistic goals most people follow the all or none rule, either they will not eat the whole day in the name of diet, or a few days later they will be bursting their tummies saying they didn’t feel like following today. If you are stuck in this vicious cycle, try working on consistency first, instead of writing a goal and working backwards…
  2. Failing to establish short-term goals
Ok, so you want to lose 10kg in 3 months because you have a wedding to attend. Great. But how exactly is each day structured to go?  What are the actions you will take? If after 1 month you have not lost even 1kg how is it that you plan to lose 9kg in the next 2 months? Perfect recipe for frustration and over whelm.
  3. Comparison with others journey
Each person has different skills, strengths, weaknesses and capacities, so comparing oneself to others often makes little sense.
  4. Negative thinking
Remembering past setbacks or not doing something again saying it didn’t work last time, are sure shot recipes for failure. “I am unable to lose weight no matter what I do”, such statements we repeat numerous times throughout the day, which work as affirmations against us. See where I’m going??
  5. Priority issues
We all are busy and multitasking. So in cases of crisis, somehow giving up on the diet or exercise seems the most easiest thing to skip in 24 hours. Try analysing your day the next time you say you don’t have time. Surely there will be something else that can be skipped…
  6. Improper guidance
Classic Vidya Balan’s case. She would have been eating spinach and bottlegourd all her life, because they are the healthiest vegetables around, aren’t they? But we all know what happened. With all the complexity happening around us and all the toxins we are ingesting in the name of good health, we sometimes doneed someone to solve the puzzle for us.

The weight you are carrying, of yourself, of your failures, of
other people’s expectations, did not just appear overnight, so expecting it to vanish into thin air can be just a little short of a miracle. But yes, with mindful, consistent efforts, we can definitely achieve our optimal health.

With these pointers we hope you will be able to be get on the right path. In case you need some more push, feel free to book a consultation with us. Wish you all a very Happy New Year 2025. Let's make it YOUR year.
